Effective anti-fouling without the toxic legacy of biocides or metallic compounds.
Not audible to humans and marine fauna with 0 interference to Sonar and electronic equipment.
Low energy consumption – around 3.6 Watts per transducer, Sonihull is ideal for grounded installations or battery-powered installations.
Easy installation – No dry dock installation, additional hull penetrations, or expensive anode replacement required.
Reduced fuel consumption – Clean propellers, shafts, and hull can reduce fuel bills by up to 30%.
Reduced maintenance – Clean propellers and shafts reduce vibrations and wear on the propulsion system.
Increased maintenance intervals mean more navigation, less downtime, and reduced operating costs.
Microbiological control – Sonihull suppresses the appearance of bacteria and algae in fuel tanks. Maintains potable water in excellent consumption conditions for longer.
Fully programmable and integrable RS232/RS422 communication interface. Modbus communication interface for wired or wireless remote control with critical fault monitoring.
BACKGROUND
Biofouling on your hull and propellers can increase fuel consumption by up to 30%, and in seawater pipelines, fouling over time can block cooling systems, causing premature equipment failures.
Environmental legislation regulating the use of poisonous metallic biocides and anti-fouling systems is becoming more drastic. The maritime industry is implementing more effective ways of controlling unwanted marine fouling on its vessels and equipment.
For decades, ultrasound has been used in the food, brewing, and hydroponic agriculture industries to prevent algae growth, maintain storage tanks, and keep handling equipment clean and obstruction-free.
Since 2006, around 27,500 Sonihull systems have been installed worldwide, making this company the world’s leading specialist in ultrasonic protection against fouling.
By focusing this same technology on marine applications, Sonihull has become an effective solution to fouling prevention.
From yachts to fish farmers, sailboats to tankers, we are working with industry leaders to create cost-effective anti-fouling solutions that reduce resistance to vessel advancement and minimize fuel consumption, extend maintenance intervals, and suppress the legacy of environmental poisoning.
How does it work?
Sonihull systems produce multiple bursts of ultrasonic energy in a determined range of frequency pulses.
Ultrasound produces a positive and negative pressure pattern alternately on the material surface. Microscopic bubbles are created during the negative cycle and implode during the positive cycle.
This microscopic agitation has a cleansing effect that destroys surface algae.
By disrupting this first link in the food chain, it keeps surfaces clean, making them unattractive habitats for marine organisms that feed on algae. The microscopic movement of the water in turn prevents mollusk larvae and parasitic species from adhering to the surfaces.
