As with any rubber/silicone hose below the waterline, PSS bellows should be inspected periodically for signs of wear, age or chemical deterioration. PYI recommends replacement of the bellows once every 6 years (For Type A seals) and 8-10 years (For Type B and PRO seals). During bellows replacement it is also recommended that the O-rings and set screws on the stainless steel rotor be replaced, as well as the clamps. PYI includes all necessary components and parts in its PSS maintenance kits.

PSS Type A – Mechanical shaft seals

PRICE From $ 300 to $ 2650 USD FEATURES This packing-free mechanical seal is a flat face seal that creates a mechanical seal between a dynamic stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon stator. The carbon stator is connected to a corrugated rubber bellows and the backside of the bellows is connected to the shaft's horn tube by metal clamps. During installation, the stainless steel rotor is used to compress the corrugated rubber bellows. Once compressed, the rotor is secured to the shaft. Compression of the bellows allows the seal faces to maintain constant contact, while compensating for axial movement fore and aft of the shaft caused by the thrust of the propeller on the motor's anti-vibration mounts. The inner diameter of the carbon stator is slightly enlarged in reference to the outer diameter of the shaft, allowing it to "float" around the shaft and compensate for misalignment and vibration of the installation. The stainless steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with nitrile rings. These rings rotate with the shaft and rotor suppressing wear during operation. This static ring seal allows PSS mechanical seals to be installed on shafts that already have a certain degree of wear or pitting, unlike lip seals that require an absolutely imperfection-free surface for installation and optimum operation. This type of carbon stator is not as sensitive to cooling water flow interruption or operation in dirty water compared to other mechanical seal options on the market.

  Alejandro and Juliana installed 2 x Quad SoniHull systems on my 50' power cat; Since the units were installed growth has always been very light - I keep my boat in a marina with excellent water exchange so plenty of opportunities to grow stuff. I've been very pleased.

After the SoniHull install, and without thinking about it, I asked Alejandro to debug my anchor windlass and install a new S/S chain - without mentioning that this isn't normally what they do, they just got on with it - in addition he debugged the problem that has been plaguing the windlass since new - it would run for 20 seconds and then the breaker would trip. Turns out the factory had botched the installation of the switch too, the facttory had installed wire that was a couple of gauges too thin causing it (and the breaker) to drop voltage and overheat. Alejandro replaced the switch, cable and breaker (in addition to finding a couple of loose connections - again from the factory) and since then the windlass has worked flawlessly.

I would recommend these guys without hesitation.

  It's been about 6 weeks since they installed Sonihull on by boat. As of today, there is not one single barnacle on my boat. I was at the sandbar today and dived in with a mask... and the bottom paint is still like new. I'll update if anything changes. Thanks guys!

  It’s been three months since our professional Sonihull Duo installation. I’m delighted to report that the system is working as promised in an environment high with marine growth. My bottom shows no barnacle growth with light and smooth Algae covering the bottom as verified by my hired Diver. While treated with anti-fouling paint it proves out how both applications work together successfully. I’m the owner of the new Boston Whaler Outrage 330 that I took delivery in early April. Juliana Gómez-Leach and  Alejandro representing leadership at Pragati YACHT were nothing less than professional from education to installation. We can not thank them enough for traveling to Bohicket Marina Village, Seabrook Island, SC. to complete the successful installation project.

  I have had this system for a couple of years , due to my hull multi  Kevlar layers on my Neptunus the transducers had to be moved which Pragati supported at no cost . It made a 180 difference , I used to bottom clean every 4 weeks , now after 90 days only a little algae growth on the water line which is easily removed . My last paint job made it 4 years with 3 years without the system and one year with it . With the system now I don’t believe I will need to repaint for at least 6-8 years .
Also it is affecting the swim platform which I didn’t think it would , which is a great additional benefit .

  I had this product installed a little over 1 year ago and it really works. We pulled boat and only growth was on running gear. Noting on the bottom of boat where this product does its work.
Algae was only thing on bottom. Cannot stop that. Overall a great saver of fuel and much better ride.

  I had Sonic Hull Installed on my trawler a year ago. I do keep my boat in south Florida. The results have been amazing. Divers come after 3 months with little growth. I use to have a diver every 4 weeks. I doubt that I will bottom paint for 2 more years. Pragati did an excellent professional installation. I could not be happier.
