Adapter set T
PRICE
From $51 to $56 USD. Specific dimensions, references, and prices according to the table.
FEATURES:
PYI offers Kits-T to help facilitate the installation of the PSS mechanical seal. These Kits-T allow the installer to derive a T from the sea water discharge line and supply water through a hose connector to the PSS mechanical seal.
Retention collars for shafts
PRICE
From $20 to $220 USD.
FEATURES
The Shaft Retention Collar (SRC) is designed to protect propeller shafts and rudders. It helps keep the shaft and rudder inside the boat in case of a coupling failure. Thanks to its simple design, the SRC can be easily installed with the shaft or rudder in place. Available to fit shafts from 1" to 3" or 25 to 80mm.
Maintenance kit
PRICE
From $92 to $1160 USD
FEATURES
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the PSS seal, PYI supplies PSS service kits to meet the requirements of the preventive maintenance plan. As with any rubber/silicone hose below the waterline, PSS bellows should be inspected periodically for signs of wear, age or chemical deterioration. PYI recommends replacement of the bellows once every 6 years (For Type A seals) and 8-10 years (For Type B and PRO seals). During bellows replacement it is also recommended that the O-rings and set screws on the stainless steel rotor be replaced, as well as the clamps. PYI includes all necessary components and parts in its PSS maintenance kits.

PSS Type A – Mechanical shaft seals
PRICE
From $ 300 to $ 2650 USD
FEATURES
This packing-free mechanical seal is a flat face seal that creates a mechanical seal between a dynamic stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon stator.
The carbon stator is connected to a corrugated rubber bellows and the backside of the bellows is connected to the shaft's horn tube by metal clamps.
During installation, the stainless steel rotor is used to compress the corrugated rubber bellows. Once compressed, the rotor is secured to the shaft. Compression of the bellows allows the seal faces to maintain constant contact, while compensating for axial movement fore and aft of the shaft caused by the thrust of the propeller on the motor's anti-vibration mounts.
The inner diameter of the carbon stator is slightly enlarged in reference to the outer diameter of the shaft, allowing it to "float" around the shaft and compensate for misalignment and vibration of the installation.
The stainless steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with nitrile rings. These rings rotate with the shaft and rotor suppressing wear during operation.
This static ring seal allows PSS mechanical seals to be installed on shafts that already have a certain degree of wear or pitting, unlike lip seals that require an absolutely imperfection-free surface for installation and optimum operation. This type of carbon stator is not as sensitive to cooling water flow interruption or operation in dirty water compared to other mechanical seal options on the market.
